The performers are listed as follows: Sarah Brightman, Eason Chan, Winnie Shin, Evonne Hsu, Huang Xiao Ming, Anthony Wong, Joey Yung, and the 12 Girls Band.

Although there was much anticipation that the concert — staged at the Oriental Pearl TV Tower no less — would draw large name international acts given the lineups in the U.S., the U.K., and Germany, the hope that Shanghai would actually get a non-ass band or performer grew increasingly slim as the actual date of the show approached and the lineup had yet to be released. The concert is in 16 days.

Perhaps most irksome about the shitty lineup is not the lack of western bands and performers but the lack of mainland Chinese bands and performers. Or even just bands period. There is one fucking band on this list and it's the 12 Girls Band. And they're a "group" formed as a result of a TV show. China has an abundance of popular bands that would have attracted fans to the concert, some of which actually happen to make interesting music, but the promoters went with pop stars.

The majority of the performers are from Hong Kong (Eason Chan, Joey Yung, Antony Wong), and Taiwan (Evonne Hsu), with the exception of Huang Xiao Ming, who recently launched his shite singing career based on his success as a hunky actor.

We here in Shanghai sympathize with South Africa, who managed to get UB40 (they're still alive?), Turkey, who still don't know what they're doing, and Japan, who got Linkin Park.

It appears, however, that the suck factor of the Shanghai concert is overshadowed by one other, the United States, who is stuck with the Dave Matthews Band, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, and the Smashing Pumpkins. And it's in Jersey. Brutal.
